To those of you who have not received your orders or received a reply to your telephone messages,
my sincere apologies.

My mother has recently been in hospital for almost 6 weeks but is now back at home.
To begin with, all the family was called as she was unconscious and doctors did not expect her
to remain on this earth, but she has made a miraculous recovery.
Days were busy with extra washing and ironing for both parents, cooking meals
& keeping house for my dad and visiting my mum at the hospital every day.
And then, just two days after mum returned home, my dad had to be admitted to hospital.
He is now also back at home, but neither of my parents are very strong.

I will attend to your requests as soon as possible.

Designs: Sandie of The Sweetheart Tree continues with her monthly Birthstone Sampler series, the alphabet series, a Special Edition kit design and the matching scissors fob and pincushion series. She has also added another tiny design to her Just For Fun series.

SWT:TK 050 - “Q” is for Queen: A majestic queen surrounded by hearts and various shapes of the letter “Q” and embellished with an ivory satin pearl heart, tiny cream pearls and tiny cream beads. Kit contains design, fabric, threads & embellishments. $40.00

SWT:TK 051 - “JOY” Christmas Ornament: In the centre of the ornament, the word JOY is stitched in traditional Christmas red, so too, the satin hearts and the surrounding trailing vines are stitched in traditional Christmas green. The complete design is embellished with beads & paillettes and a cream coloured satin pearl heart. Kit contains design, fabric, threads & embellishments, plus the shaped card to create the ornament. $42.00

SWT:SE 019 - Holly & Hearts Sampler: This design incorporates The Sweetheart Tree signature shape - a heart. In fact, lots of hearts. One large one created by trailing holly vines and several smaller satin stitched ones inside this heart, all stitched in Christmas red. More hearts are dotted throughout the design with more trailing holly vines in Christmas green. Embellished with a ruby cabochon heart. Once again, this is a ‘Special Edition’ kit and so only a certain quantity are produced. Kit contains design, fabric, threads and bead and paillette embellishments. $73.50

SWT:T 140 - Spring Blossoms Fob: Flowers on this fob are satin stitched in a pale pink - the flowers being the same shape and colour as those in Sandie’s very first Teenie Tweenie design (001 - Snowflakes & Snowdrops). The fob is embellished with crystal paillettes. Design & embellishments: $23.00

SWT:BP 010 - Halloween Pumpkins Biscornu Pincushion: As it’s title suggests, this pincushion has a Halloween theme of pumpkins and spiders. This design too, compliments a fob designed some time ago (SWT:T 088 - Halloween Fob). All threads, embellishments & fabric are included with the biscornu design. $40.00

Designs: Judy Whitman of JBW Designs has been very busy designing six new pieces for our stitching pleasure.

JBW 201 - Alphabet Pumpkin: Very typical of Judy’s unique style of using all the letters of the alphabet to create a shape - this time - a pumpkin & to add interest, it is stitched with overdyed threads (Simply Shaker Sampler Threads - Fragrant Cloves : Sarsaparilla : Autumn Leaves).
JBW 202 - My Shopping Hat: Another very typical design style by Judy. This lovely wide brimmed, round crowned hat, is created by the words, “I love to shop for hats”. And once again, stitched with an overdyed thread.
JBW 203 - The Sisters Purse: The body of this purse / handbag is created by the words, “Sisters love to go shopping together” and again, stitched with an overdyed thread.
JBW 204 - Christmas Tree Collection I: The first in a series of designs for Christmas tree ornaments. Each design booklet will feature two ornament designs and more books in this series will be released in the coming months. The designs in this booklet are two decorated Christmas trees - ‘Little Trees’ embellished with Mill Hill beads & ‘Heart Tree’ embellished with a red heart. Both designs are shown stitched over two threads and then both are shown stitched over one thread. Quite lovely.    Embellishment: $4.00 (Heart ONLY - JBW:EM 204)
JBW 205 - Wedding Pillow: A ring bearer’s cushion. In the centre is a letter which is surrounded by a lacy design created by beads and cross stitches in an overdyed thread.
JBW 206 - Christmas Tree II: The second booklet in the Christmas tree ornaments series. Once again, two differently decorated Christmas trees. ‘Cardinal Heart’ is embellished with a red star and ‘Alphabet Tree’ is embellished with a large gold bead. Stitched over two threads with Baby Spinach (a Simply Shaker Sampler Thread) on the lovely gingham linen fabric (celery & white colouring) by Graziano of Italy.
JBW 198 - The Shoe Shopper: Originally Judy designed this piece to be stitched in a pink/red but I chose to stitch it in blackon a grey coloured fabric. Really looks quite different.

NP:HW - Hannah Westcombe’s Ackworth Sampler: Text samplers were the earliest forms of samplers stitched at the Ackworth School. Hannah stitched hers in 1783 and the verse she wrote says, “Learn such things whilst thou art a child, as may be profitable to thee, when thou art a woman.” Included with this designs are five other choices of text samplers. $40.00

Designs: When in the States last year, I purchased some beautiful French designs for those of us who love the delicate, dainty, lacy, feminine look. Most of the designs have lacework or scrolls around a very ornate letter of the alphabet, but a few are just scrollwork only. All designs are worked with just one colour in cross stitch.
DESS:FRUIT - Window View of Fruits: A very ornate alphabet surrounded by an arbour of trailing fruit, grapes and vine leaves. $21.00
DESS:INITIAL 15 - Initials 15 ‘”Wedding”: Scrollwork and roses in an oval shape surround two very ornate letters.     $23.50 DESS:LACE - Lace Influence: A slightly rectangular shaped design. This single ornate letter is surrounded by hanging leafy boughs, trellis and lace work.     $23.50
DESS:PINK - Pink Ribbon: An oval of roses surround two ornate letters & rosebuds and this is then surrounded by a square of lacework. An option is given with this design, two cupids with a ribbon may be stitched in the centre instead of the initials.

DESS:RED   - Spanish Red (“Rouge Espagnol”): A single ornate letter surrounded by scrollwork.     $23.50

Magazines: Latest magazine issues to arrive at the Gallery are Cross Country Stitching, Piecework, Stoney Creek and Cross-Stitch & Needlework.
Stoney Creek (Feb) is packed with many lovely floral designs (e.g. roses, wildflowers) and a great design for the duck shooting/hunting man in your life. $14.70
Cross-Stitch & Needlework (March) has a cute, delightful stitching set of scissors keep, scissors sheath and a shaped needlebook which has designs both inside & outside - on the outside Henrietta Mouse is watering her flowers planted along her cottage walls and inside, her cottage is neatly laid out with table & chairs (the table set ready for a cup of tea with knitting beside a chair), jars & woven baskets sitting atop wall shelves, a broom beside the door, etc. Featured artist in this issue is Dutch designer, Thea Gouverneur & her Dragon Tulip design is beautiful. $16.10

This month is the time of the Needlework Trade Show in the USA. Fabric: Recently acquired pieces of hand dyed fabrics (approximately 9” x 9”) from R & R Reproductions. Four pieces - all of different colours, fabric type & fabric counts - in a package. Designs: Recently received a shipment of designs from Forget-Me-Nots In Stitches and amongst the very popular ones were a few that have not been featured at the Gallery. These designs are -
FMN 131 - A Little Book of Embroidery Patterns: Amongst the children’s toys & clothing exhibits in The Galpin House (built in 1846 & one of the seven buildings which comprise The Milan Historical Museum, Milan, Ohio), Lauren discovered a little book containing a very long yellowing page, folded accordion-like, of embroidery patterns - mottoes, alphabets, scenes. This she has reproduced. Her little book comprises 16 pages.     $33.50
FMN 133 - An Alphabet of Sampler Motifs: A selection of motifs taken from numerous samplers (dating from 1748 to 1831) that are in a private collection & charted for your pleasure by Lauren.     $65.50
FMN 137 - Butterfly Garden:   A needlebook measuring approx. 4½” x 7” when closed with pockets & flannel pages on the inside. Design on the outside is a beautiful butterfly & Queen stitched flowers in glorious overdyed threads by The Thread Gatherer.     $65.50
FMN 140 - A Poesy From The Past: A tiny pinwheel featuring the open face of a flower - the petals worked in Queen Stitch with silk thread & the centre embroidered with beads.     $21.50
FMN 148 - Poesies From Hannah’s Garden: Three flowers taken from a sampler embroidered by Hannah Thorne in England in 1653. Each flower is a slightly different size & each flower’s centre is embroidered differently.     $25.50
FMN 151 - Strawberries in a French Fashion: A little “French Purse”. The front is covered with luscious strawberries embroidered entirely with Queen Stitches, whilst in the centre of the back, embroider your initial amongst the strawberries. $33.50

FMN 164 - Never Enough Berries: Lauren describes this design as, “A luscious series of ‘smalls’ inspired by a fondness of strawberries!” A pin keep & a pin cushion featuring strawberries and a strawberry shaped scissors fob (all worked with overdyed threads by Sampler Threads & The Thread Gatherer) are to be kept in a ‘punnet’ which has a verse stitched around the top of it. $65.50
