Renee's French Alphabet has been adapted from an original sampler
with beautifully formed graceful letters.
 
The original sampler was worked in wool and did not contain
the letters J and W, which would have been common in France
at the time it was stitched.  Judy has added both of these letters
to the chart by adapting existing letters in an antique format.
 
A single letter could be worked over one fabric thread
to create a tiny pin keep or a monogramme could be stitched
and finished as a small pillow.
